  • Description

This dry oil is a perfect nectar for the skin, as bewitching as it is essential. Composed of three natural plant oils, it possesses a cumulative beneficial effect: the more you use it, the more the skin transforms due to its shaping and moisturizing properties. Sesame oil is a unique treasure: it was the world’s first vegetable extract in Mesopotamia, 3,500 years ago. It has softening qualities and is extremely easily absorbed. Fortified with antioxidants – Vitamin E, lecithin and sesamolin – it protects the skin against ageing. As for apricot oil, it strengthens the skin’s hydrolipidic layer and prevents dehydration. Finally, in this protective trio, comes coconut oil, which softens, tones, and restores unparalleled radiance, thanks to the presence of Vitamins E, K and its rich iron content.

In 1834, Jean-Vincent Buly added Huile Antique to his beauty catalogue, inspired by Ancient Greek cosmetic practices and restorative skincare from thermal baths. This treatment, highly popular at the beginning of the 19th century, when there was a vogue for all things evoking Antiquity, was reinvented and brought up to date by the Officine.

    OVERHEARD AT THE OFFICINE
Huile Antique can be used after washing with the Huile de Savon. They can have different scents, as all our performers harmonize particularly well, whichever way they’re associated. Dry to the touch, this is a much-appreciated quality.

  • SIGNATURE SCENT

    SAINT JOSEPH THE CARPENTER

“Saint Joseph the Carpenter” infuses the skin with a youthful, woody sillage. Sunny, like the luminous elan of the painting, the fragrant composition converses with warm, woody notes, where cedarwood sits on the throne. This wood, used by King Salomon to build his temple, bears a noble odoriferous power, at the service of the scented discourse. To give it more body, but also a slight dissonance, an aromatic hint of vetiver imposes its fresh, generous presence, a presence much appreciated in India, when the hot season hits homes.
Hiding behind the candlelit child’s face, conveying both vibrancy and facetiousness, verbena absolute illuminates the scented bouquet – verbena itself symbolizes joy and hope.  Orange blossom, offered by Zeus to Hera, the goddess of marriage, distils its powdery, green fragrance, while pink peppercorn, previously known as “Bourbon pepper”, brings spicy refinement. This olfactive atmosphere is linked to the reality of Georges de la Tour’s painting with volutes of incense, escaping from bowls filled with bitter almonds, sweet like the reminiscence of newfound childhood.

  • How to use
