SCOTTISH LICHEN: A green and mineral scent of moss and galbanum. The scent of the upright stones of Hyperborea, dotted with the lichens’ reddish-brown froth. The tartness of the cold grass fur on the hills’ shoulders, the mosses frosted with dew – the pollens sticking to the belly of dawn are left out to dry in the salty wind from the Hebrides.

DAMASK ROSE: A bunch of roses, boosted with ginger and vetiver. Thousands of red and pink petals thrown into Astarte’s bath, blanketing the sandalwood floors of temples, strewn across the beds of queens. Their triumph exudes the sweet opulence of the rose and the vetiver, the maidens’ ginger-fiery kisses raining down upon the victors from the balconies.

MEXICAN TUBEROSE: A blend dominated by the queen of white flowers, spiced with clove and vanilla. Blue garden of Persepolis, enclosed with walls and shadows, where the fragrance of the tuberose is infused in the evening warmth and in the black mane of the gods. Lunar flowers of ivory and mother-of-pearl, fruits of gold and ruby, vanilla beans and clove flowers like leather pillows. BERKANE ORANGE BLOSSOM: An intoxicating brust of fresh orange blossoms and leaves. A snowstorm of dazzling petals on the dry hills covered with orange trees, the honeyed puffs of wind going through the branches of neroli, made green again by the waters of March, carried by the galloping horses from the sea to the shivering basins of the mosques in Cordoba. The Andalusian spring, white with flowers, comes rushing into the shade of the palaces, setting the sequined and gold-threaded drapes around the betrothed’s baths a-gleaming.

PERUVIAN HELIOTROPE: A sophisticated fragrance of white flowers, tonka bean and violet. The grain of shagreen, powder and skin; veins of Sandalwood; the lacquered scent of white heliotrope inebriates tomboys. MAKASSAR: Chopped off by a parang, the jungle wood oozes a red sap that capsizes the spirit. The dark, black-veined scent of the Sulawesi underbrush, of tropical mountains teeming with lianas and pythons. Just above the surface, blowing in from the horizon, a puff of powder carried by the hot winds sends the forest of the lambos’ sails a-pitching, disturbing the air, blue with tobacco and burned incense as the sun sets.
